Year 4 Invaders & Settlers
18th Jan
Year 4 visited Colchester Castle to find out more about the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. Then we had a viking day at school with a visit from Thorulf Hammrsson.

World War II Tea Party
13th Jan
Year 6 performed a variety of World War II songs and poems and made cakes using recipes from the 1940s. Family members then shared their memories of the war with the children to help bring their learning to life.

House Day
6th Jan
Today we learnt more about our link schools in Uganda, Sri Lanka and Spain. We wrote letters to our friends there, we drew pictures and made Powerpoint presentations about British wildlife for them, we learnt a spanish song, took photos of our school to send them . . . . and had a great time working with other pupils from our House!



Christmas Parties
Each house had a party during the week where they played a variety of traditional and modern party games. One of Earth House's challenges was to wrap up a child in toilet roll to make a snowman!

Christmas Lunch

Today we enjoyed our Christmas lunch. . . . . . . . . . and so did our community police officers.

Polly Parrot Appeal

We raised £2215 for our charity of the year this year and Polly Parrot came to collect the cheque today.

Christmas Fayre
9th Dec
Every class organised and ran their own stall. Thanks to all the parents for their donations of gifts and cakes.
A great time was had by all and we raised £952.








Carol Services
6th, 7th Dec
Our carol services took place again at St Andrew's Church, after snow forced us to hold them at school last year. The children sang beautifully, played tunefully and read expressively. Well done to Mr Rhys-Morgan for putting it all together.





Y6 Visit the Synagogue
Year 6 visited the synagogue in Southend to learn more about modern Judaism as part of their World War II topic.

New Babies
Congratulations to Mrs Reilly, on the birth of her son Max, and Mr Martin, on the birth of his son Thomas.

Year 3 Egyptian Day

Year 3 spent the day as either explorers or ancient egyptians to learn more about life in ancient Egypt.

Netball & Football v North Crescent
15th Nov

Well done to the football team for a fantastic 7-1 win at North Crescent. Goals were scored by Luke 6E (2), James 6F (3), Nathan 6E and James 5W. Well done to all the boys for some superb football and a wonderful attitude. They were a credit to the school. Congratulations to Aman 6E who was awarded Man of the Match.
The netball team also achieved another great result when they won 4-1. The fantastic support from parents was really appreciated.
Braintree Victorian Museum
14th Nov

Year 5 visited Braintree museum this week to learn more about Victorian Britain.
Netball & Football v Grange
9th Nov

The school netball and football teams played against Grange today. It was the first match of the season for the girls and they won confidently 6-0. For many, this was their first ever netball match so it made the result even more of an achievement. Congratulations!
The boys played a very entertaining game. After some fantastic passing they were denied a win by some great saves. Grange were tough opposition and it took two fantastic goals to beat us. It was a good team performance and the boys were a credit to the school. Congratulations to Luke who was awarded Man of the Match.
Both teams are playing away at North Crescent next Tuesday.
Year 6 Residential
10th-14th Oct
86 children set off for Kingswood activity centre in West Runton, Norfolk, for a week's residential visit. See the Year 6 Residential page on the Year Groups page for more details.

Gardening Club
Gardening club have had a productive year - here they are with their potatoes, onions & tomatoes.

Year 6 7-a-side
27th Sep
The year 6 team played in their first tournament of the year and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals. They all played fantastically and showed great team spirit. Bad luck boys!
